Why Pollinators Matter

Pollinators are the unsung heroes of our food system and local ecosystems. Without bees, butterflies, and other pollinators, we wouldn't have the fresh fruits, vegetables, and flowers that make our Atlanta gardens and farmers markets thrive.

1 in 3 Bites

One out of every three bites of food we eat depends on pollinators. From almonds to zucchini, pollinator-dependent crops feed our communities.

Pollinator Decline

Bee and butterfly populations are declining due to habitat loss, pesticides, and climate change. We're losing the pollinators we depend on.

Citizen Science Works

When community members like you count pollinators during our census events, you create real scientific data that helps conservation efforts. Your 15 minutes of observation contributes to the Great Southeast Pollinator Census—a regional initiative tracking pollinator health.

Local Impact

Here in Atlanta, pollinators support our urban gardens, community farms, and neighborhood green spaces. Protecting them means protecting the food and beauty that sustains our NW Atlanta community.

The good news? You can help. By joining our pollinator census counting events, you're not just learning—you're taking meaningful action for conservation.
